Cryo-Sculpting

Freeze away fat? It comes down to science. Fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than surrounding tissues. Cryo-Sculpting technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. The treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), and then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a tighter and more sculpted you. The reduction in fat cells in the treated area provides noticeable, and lasting results to help you look and feel your best.

For many of us, there are stubborn areas on our bodies that don’t shed fat no matter how hard we workout or how strictly we diet. Is Cryo-Sculpting Painful?

Before we go into aftercare and what to expect, let’s address one of your biggest fears. In plain English, Cryo-Sculpting is the process of freezing fat cells. Freezing the fat cells forces them to break down, at which point your body eliminates them as waste. This is done by using a vacuum applicator to bring the skin into contact with the cooling panels.

Basically, you’re forcing fat cells into cell death.

Remember that cold panels are being applied to your skin. Think of it like putting an ice cube against bare skin or numbing an area with a cold compress. It‘s not necessarily pleasant at first, but that’s mostly because your skin needs to adjust to the temperature difference.

You may feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation at the beginning of the procedure, but this subsides once the area becomes numb. Keep in mind that everyone has a different pain tolerance. Discomfort quickly subsides once the skin becomes numb to the sensation, usually within five to 10 minutes.

Patients are given a private room with a relaxing atmosphere and a large screen TV, to catch up on a show or two while the procedure is being performed. Treatments take about an hour.

What to Expect After Cryo-Sculpting

After Cryo-Sculpting, your body works to eliminate the dead fat cells naturally, the same way it eliminates any other dead cell. Most patients have minimal discomfort following the procedure. That said, your body is healing, so you may feel some minor discomfort associated with it. Some people’s bodies are louder about it than others. Some patients have reported:

  • Slight tenderness to the touch
  • Tingling
  • Minor numbness
  • Minor bruising

These are all standard for the procedure– your skin is waking back up after an hour spent under constant cold. Think of how your hands feel after coming in from the extreme cold.

Wear Loose, Comfortable Clothes

It’s a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothes the day of the procedure. Starting on the second day, where a compression band to the area where the Cryo-Sculpting was performed. Compression clothing/ bands should be worn for up to two weeks.

Many patients experience minor swelling after this procedure. This is normal, though, and your swelling may be worse if your body bloats or swells easily. Patients are wrapped with a neoprene compression band and are asked to complete 10 minutes on the vibrationCo body plate, which will help warm the treated area, as well as reduce discomfort (if any) after the procedure has been completed. This will also help speed the process by triggering your lymphatic system to start detoxifying and flushing dead fat cells and retained fluid.

Keep Moving After Cryo-Sculpting

It might seem counterintuitive, but if you’re feeling any discomfort after your procedure, one of the best things you can do is to move around. This helps get your blood circulating so that your body can handle the healing process more efficiently. Remember, your blood carries oxygen and nutrients around the body. The more your blood circulates, the happier your cells will be.

CHC Medical Weight Loss and Spa has a full-body vibration plate that will help with circulation throughout your body. This is done directly after the procedure and it only takes 10 minutes. This is especially popular for busy patients that do not have time to workout within the same day of Cryo-Sculpting and the cost is already included in the price of every session.

Massages and Warm Compresses

A warm compress can help the affected area with heat circulation, and a massage can help encourage your skin and muscles to wake back up. It may take a while for the swelling to go down, but don’t be discouraged. That’s just your body doing its job to heal you. Some people will have lingering numbness after the treatment. Again, this is normal and will go away once your body gets to work on temperature management. Patients have reported seeing results within the first week! However, keep in mind that your body will continue to reduce and eliminate fat as well as produce the hormones needed to firm loose skin, which is why we highly recommend body compression clothing (such as Spanx) for several weeks following the procedure.

Remember: you may see results as soon as the first week, but you’ll see the most dramatic results after two months. Check in with us, track your progress, and remain patient while your body disposes of dead cells and is continues to firm up naturally.
